THE KNEEBOARD SURFING BRITISH NATIONALS
21st OCT 2006

This years National Championships were the most hotly contested for many years. Standards were high even in the opening rounds of both the AAA and AA contests.

The contest was made especially testing by the changing conditions as the surf varied from small and clean to big and messy. The men's AAA final could truly be described as clash of the titans, with Karl Ward (St Ives), Richard Hewitt (Porthtowan) and Chris Diplock (Polzeath) challenging last years champion Richard Smith (Polzeath). Following some high scoring waves, the result of the men's AAA was a tie between Karl Ward and Richard Smith. It took a count back by the contest director Karen Walton to award Richard a second consecutive title.

The AA final was also hotly contested, with some good performances by Cliff Squibb, Chris Bull and Nick Barkham. But in the end Anthony Armshaw emerged victorious. As usual, the ladies final took place when the surf was at its biggest. The conditions proved too much for last years champion Jody Troth who had concede defeat to Natalie Silverthorn.

3 Chris Diplock
4 Richard Hawitt

Ladies Open
