21/SEP/07 PRESS RELEASE

BRITISH SURF CLUBS SET FOR
RE-SCHEDULED 2007 CHALLENGE

Due to flat surf on the original dates of 1st/2nd September, this year's British Interclub Surfing Championships have been re-scheduled for the weekend of 27/28 October.

Over 60 surfers competed at last years highly popular event. Teams consisted of 6 competitors in separate heats, all gaining valuable points towards their overall score. Croyde have a long history of having been victorious at the Interclub Championships, but Newquay Boardriders stole the show last year and, as a result, are this year’s hosts.

Karen Walton, National Director of the BSA says, “The club scene is really taking off in Britain now and more and more people are competing at this level which is obviously a positive move. The Interclubs is this is a brilliant, friendly, yet very competitive event. Last year there was such a great atmosphere and we’ll expect to see the same at Newquay. We can’t wait to get going and see which team will lift the trophy this year.”
