The following information and documents are required for a surf school to become an Approved British Surf School

- A list of the current Surf coaching staff including valid BSA Surf Coach Membership for all coaches

- Valid national ‘beach lifeguard’ or ‘surf coach lifesaving’ award for all coaches

- A CRB (enhanced) disclosure certificate for each surf coach working at the surf school

- A current ‘Public Liability Insurance’ certificate

- Normal Operating Procedures (NOPs) that detail the schools daily work routines, surfing lesson aims & objectives of the surf schools services

- An Emergency Action Plan (EAP) which details the schools emergency plan should an issue occur

- A Health and Safety Risk Assessment (RA) for all the locations used by the surf school, including surfing beaches, reception & changing areas, transport / travel to beach and so on

- A copy of the schools "Flat water"and "High Seas" activities / policies, including refund policy and practice statement

- Lesson plans for all their "ability levels" programmes, which could include: Beginner / Novice, Improvers, Intermediates and Advanced

- Evidence to support the British School level applied for. (this can include media advertising, website references, education contracts, school promo materials, flyers etc)

 Prerequisites

If a surf school wishes to become BS registered, the surf school operators must agree to abide by these regulations at all times:

Agrees to operate routine everyday NOPs, EAP and RAs in accordance with these regulations as official BSA guidelines for "best practises" and "professional judgement"

- Abide by the international, national, regional and local laws of the geographical area in which they operate

- Meet the current requirements of the health and safety at work (H&SAW) act 1974
