Final day of preparation before World Surfing Games begins PDF Print E-mail

Tuesday 19th Jan 2010

Today is the final day of preparation before the opening ceremony and procession on Wednesday

The Team have been surfing heat drills in the mornings followed by a leisurely day, so they are not “surfed out” before the big event

The conditions have been average with 2-3 foot fun waves with  a slight onshore breeze, although the forecast is set to pick up over the following days, so the 5 days preparation time has given the team lots of experience in the varied conditions here

On Sunday evening, the team had an outing to the local bowling club for dinner, as it was Laura Cranes 15th Birthday. As Piha is a very small town, the blowing club is the only restaurant / social meeting place in the town, so there are very few distractions for the team who are now focused on the main event

The procession and opening ceremony is tomorrow, so watch this space for photos and report! Bye for now!
