Quiksilver World Junior Games Update - 09/May/2007
GB Team Charging on in Gutless Conditions

It’s the end of day two at the ISA World Junior Surfing Games and the British Team is still in contention in every division.
In testing waisthigh beachbreak conditions Swansea girl Gwen Spurlock beat number two seed, Aussie Ashley Smith, and is safely through to the next round along with Woolacoombe's Kathleen Spears. Holly Donnolly and Beth Mason have a slightly harder route to the final via the repocharge.

In the Under 18 boys division, meanwhile, St Ives ripper Dane Hall is through to the third round after a virtuoso performance against the cream of France, South Africa and Venezuela. Jayce Robinson, Billy Norways and Tom Butler are surfing in tomorrows repocharge and you can watch their progress at www.isasurf.com.
Under 16 boy Joshua Hughes made the second round of the main event and only missed out on the third round by a tiny margin. Josh, Toby Donachie, Stuart Campbell and Jack Butler are all in action again tomorrow in the first and second rounds of the repocharge.
Karen Walton, European Surfing Federation Secretary General and National Director of the BSA, is ecstatic with the teams efforts and had this to say:
" This is the best start ever for a British Junior Team. The athletes are all on form and surfing out of their skins. Dane is tearing and Gwen beating the Aussie second seed is a great statement for British surfing."
