Quiksilver World Junior Games Update - 11/May/2007
Day 5 Review

Jayce Robinson blitzed the competition in his under 18’s round three repocharge heat yesterday to progress to round four. His stylish attacking display in taxing waisthigh conditions saw him come first in his heat and knock France's number one seed, Joan Duru, out of the event. He now joins fellow St Ives ripper Dane Hall in heat six of the repocharge fourth round. (Dane having gone straight into this round after his great run in the main event was cut short.) A beaming Jayce Robinson had this to say: "I’m so stoked. I can’t wait to surf with Dane in the next round".

You should be able to catch their heat live on the ISA website at about 12 noon today (Fri 11th May).

Tom Butler just missed out on joining his team-mates, but went out fighting in the marginal surf.

Holly Donnolly missed a fourth round appearance by 0.23 points! Her well surfed last minute lefthander not quite enough to see her through but her third place added more valuable points to the British Teams overall score. Beth Mason and Kathleen Spears also surfed very well, but couldn’t quite get the scores they needed to take them further. Gwen Spurlock surfs her fourth round heat today at about 11am after the competition was postponed yesterday afternoon due to uncooperative surf.

In the under 16’s Josh Hughes gave all his effort in his third round repocharge heat but will have to make do with being ranked 43rd in the world for this year.

The repocharge, for those unfamiliar with the concept, is a second (and final) chance for competitors to accumulate team points and, if they make into the final, back into the main event - where the world champs will be decided.
